Available Summer Camps Coming Up in the New River Valley

July 5, 2023

Summer is in full swing and camps are still filling up. We have a list of some of the summer camps from our guide that still have availability.

Summer camps are beneficial for children as they provide opportunities for personal growth, developing new skills, building self-confidence, making friends, and experiencing new adventures. They offer a break from academic routines and allow children to explore their interests in a fun and supportive environment.

Summer camp is all about having fun and creating lasting memories. Here are some of the ways campers can have a great time at summer camp:

  1. Engaging Activities: Summer camps offer a wide range of activities that are both fun and challenging. Whether it's team sports, arts and crafts, water activities, adventure sports, or performing arts, there's something for everyone. Campers can try new activities, discover hidden talents, and enjoy the thrill of learning and mastering new skills.
  2. Outdoor Adventures: Many summer camps take advantage of their natural surroundings, providing opportunities for campers to explore the outdoors. Hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, zip-lining, and campfire activities are just a few examples of the exciting adventures campers can enjoy. Being in nature and participating in outdoor activities can be exhilarating and provide a sense of freedom and connection with the environment.
  3. Friendship and Socializing: Camp is a place where campers from diverse backgrounds come together, fostering a sense of community and friendship. Spending time with peers, engaging in group activities, and participating in team-building exercises can create lasting bonds. Campers have the chance to make new friends, develop social skills, and learn about different cultures and perspectives.
  4. Camp Traditions and Special Events: Many summer camps have unique traditions and special events that add to the fun and excitement. These can include talent shows, theme days, campfire storytelling, scavenger hunts, camp-wide games, and camp dances. These events create a sense of camaraderie and give campers something to look forward to throughout their stay.
  5. Campfire Activities: Campfires are a classic part of the camp experience. Gathering around the campfire, singing songs, telling stories, and enjoying s'mores is a highlight for many campers. Campfire activities promote a sense of togetherness, create a relaxed and fun atmosphere, and provide opportunities for creativity and self-expression.
  6. Lifelong Memories: Summer camp experiences often leave campers with cherished memories that they carry with them for a lifetime. Whether it's conquering a fear, achieving a personal goal, or sharing laughter with friends, these experiences can shape a camper's character and provide them with a treasure trove of joyful memories.

Remember, the fun at summer camp is not just limited to the activities and events but also the overall sense of community, personal growth, and the feeling of being part of something special.
