Happy Thursday, welcome to this weekly edition of A Note From Your Publisher! We hope you are having a wonderful week. Trying new things can always be fun! My kids have been asking me to go to Dehaven Park with them for a while. As a native of the New River Valley, I'm surprised I have never seen this incredible place before. We headed out late Monday afternoon to visit and watched the sun go down over Claytor Lake. The water was a perfect temperature for an afternoon swim. We are blessed with so many incredible places in the New River Valley and surrounding areas that are perfect for a morning, afternoon or evening trip. If you haven't been to Dehaven, I suggest packing a picnic, swimming clothes, towels and hopping in the car.
In an email from a subscriber, we were asked why we do not have any Pulaski Summer Camps listed in our Summer Camp Guide. This is an excellent question, and one we would like to share with our readers. As you are aware Macaroni KID NRV is a free resource for our community. We try very hard to balance our events, articles, guides and directory all over the New River Valley and a few surrounding areas. The way we are able to remain free and continue to provide resources is through our paid sponsors. Our guides are one example of a paid sponsorship. We start sending emails in January to over 300 local businesses offering them to join our Summer Camp Guide. There is a fee to join and we are grateful for our sponsors who agree to be a part of it for our community. Macaroni KID NRV has the longest running Summer Camp Guide in Southwest Virginia. This year we had the largest Summer Camp Guide in the 15 years we have been in business and hope it continues to grow each year. If you know of a local business we do not have listed, please reach out to them or us at mackidnewrivervalley@macaronikid.com and let's get them added next year. A huge shout-out to our 2024 Summer Camp Guide Sponsors, we are grateful for your support.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for being loyal subscribers & sponsors.
