Around the Valley by Jennifer Chasse

April 23, 2015
Hello neighbors and thanks to all who stopped by our booth at the Chocolate Festival last weekend. Allow me to apologize if your child was covered in cocoa powder, and know we promise to never offer that craft again!
Have your kids been taking advantage of any of the great free programs lately? My son was able to take advantage of free basketball clinic presented by RU talent at the Christiansburg Rec Center, and The Noodle started the Market Kids program at Blacksburg Farmer's Market this past weekend. My kids love going to farmer's markets and are more likely to try new foods they buy there. It's shopping local at its finest and why not make it a point to visit a few markets this summer? Here's a link to Virginia farmer's markets.  You'll find the Pulaski and Radford Farmers Market are getting ready to open and here's an insider tip for Floyd Farmer's Market: Plan to wait to have dripped coffee brewed for you from Red Rooster. It's worth the wait!  Across the street the kids can buy penny candy from barrels at the Floyd Country Store and there's lots of great local lunch options so make an outing of it.
Our calendar is packed and there's lots to do. Thanks for reading, and see you around the valley.
