Around the Valley by Jennifer Chasse

January 22, 2015
It's been interesting at my house lately neighbors. Suddenly The Boy is using hair gel and spending more time on his hair than I do. I welcome this, because it was not long ago that we had to beg him to shower, plus no one on the planet loved Billy Idol more than I, but it makes me kind of sad to see him growing up, even if he is adorable with his fauxhawk.

A white cat moved in under my deck, wooing my kids with her friendly personality and beautiful different colored eyes. If you've been reading a while you may know we live with The Cat That Refuses To Die, who is ornery and despises other animals. None of the neighbors will claim her, and when the weather turned foul I agreed whitecat could sleep in the garage. They kids wisely named it Bowie to appeal to Joe and I (who doesn't love David Bowie?) and before I knew it I found myself getting the cat rabies and distemper shots "just in case". I need another pet like I need quadruplets, but here we are with another cat, one that needs to be kept safe from The Cat That Refuses to Die, but I have to admit its nice having a cat who likes humans and will eat whatever you give her.

Basketball is in full force, the Noodle has been busy selling Girl Scout cookies, and it seems like there are tons of school projects and homework lately. I know I'm getting old because I had to ask her how many planets there are these days, and I'm relearning math. Apparently the way I learned math is entirely wrong, and I need to relearn division in just 39 easy steps. It's true what they say- learning never ends!
