Strengthening Families Program For Parents & Children Ages 6 – 12

A free program to enjoy with your family

August 25, 2016
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a weekly, three-part program in which parents learn new parenting skills, children learn skills which enable them to be more resilient, and families come together to take part in a fun learning activity.
Offered by NRVCS (New River Valley Community Services), SFP is a time for families to eat dinner together, learn new things, and have a good time with each other. Participating families work together to make life more enjoyable for every member of the family.
Some of the topics parents will discussed are:
  • Making rules and consequences
  • How to manage stress
  • Ways to show love and support
  • Ways to improve communication skills
Children will learn to:
  • Appreciate their parents
  • Say “No” to peer pressure
  • Get along with others
  • Understand feelings and deal with anger
Families will:
  • Have fun with activities and games
  • Solve problems together
  • Spend quality time together
There is no fee to participate in the Strengthening Families Program, but you must pre-register. Dinner is provided for participating families each week of the program at NO cost. For more information, contact Leslie Beasley, SFP Coordinator, at 540-961-8356 or 540-250-1814 or email @ lbeasley@nrvcs.org
