It's farmers market and pick-your-own time in the New River Valley!

We love supporting our local farmers and buying locally-grown produce and goods. Plus, it's fun for the whole family to visit a pick-your-own (PYO) farm or a farmers market in the New River Valley.

Here are four things to note before heading out to farmers markets or PYO farms:

  • Pick-your-own farms can sometimes change hours on short notice dependent on weather, produce availability, and other factors. It's best to call ahead to make sure pick-your-own is available that day. Prices can also change from day to day.
  • Bring your own containers or bags to avoid any extra charges! 
  • Bring cash as some farmer market stands and pick-your-own farms don't take credit cards.
  • Some farmer markets and pick-your-own farms might have rules or requests in place due to COVID. Please check their websites or social media sites before heading out!

Farmers Markets in the New River Valley





Farmers markets in the NRV typically open for the season in the spring or some are open year round. Here is a list of Farmers Markets in the New River Valley:


Blacksburg Farmers Market

When: Open year round: 

  • Jan - Mar: Saturdays 10 AM - 2 PM
  • April - Oct: Wednesdays. 2 - 6 PM; Saturdays 8 AM - 2 PM
  • Nov - Dec: Wednesdays 2 - 6 PM; Saturdays 9 AM - 2 PM

What: Fresh local meats, organic produce, baked goods, ice cream and prepared food from local farmers

Where: Market Square Park is located on the corner of Roanoke Street and Draper Road in the heart of downtown Blacksburg

Catawba Valley Farmers Market

When: Open May - October: Thursdays 3 - 6:30 PM, rain or shine

What: Playground for kids, produce, baked goods, crafts and more

Where: 4965 Catawba Creek Road, Catawba, VA

Christiansburg Farmers Market

When: Open May 16 - October 31: Thursdays 2 - 6 PM

What: Fresh local produce, baked goods, local vendors

Where: Christiansburg Recreation Center, parking lot at 1600 N. Franklin St

Floyd Farmers Market

When: Open May - December: Saturdays 9 AM - 1 PM

What: Fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, artisan bread, grass-grown meats and free range poultry, preserves, pickles, honey, jams/jelly, wool products, soaps, handmade jewelry and beverages 

Where: Under the community pavilion in the center of downtown Floyd and at the Village Green Extension

Hethwood Market

When: Saturdays 8 AM -  2 PM (See Facebook page for other dates/hours available)

What: Serving breakfast, fresh produce, kettle corn, handmade soaps and other local items!

Narrows Farmers Market

When: Open May - October: Saturdays 9 AM - 1 PM, with the exception of Local's Nights. Locals Night Dates: 5/11/2024, 6/1/2024, 8/3/2024, 9/14/2024 only open from 5 -8 PM

What: Fresh produce, homemade baked goods, handmade crafts, and food vendors
