Favorite Ice Cream & Snow Cone Places

Is there anything better than treating the kids to an ice cream cone or shaved ice on a hot summer day in the New River Valley? We can't think of one. 

Luckily, We have a lot of great locally-owned ice cream shops in our area where we can indulge in yummy goodness. Many of these are only open during the summer. Here are 9 of our favorite places for ice cream and shaved ice in the NRV:




Aloha Eddie's

203 Depot Street, Christiansburg (locations can vary)

Aloha Eddie's offers 32 flavors of shaved ice. They also have soft serve ice cream in waffle cones.




Bahama Sno Shack

900 Wenonah Avenue, Pearisburg

Snow Cones, floats, blizzards and so much more! Flavors of snow cones include dreamsicle, tigers blood, fuzzy navel just to name a few. Sugar free flavors are available. 




Big Lick Ice Cream Company

Unique, yummy ice cream, popsicles, & ice cream sandwiches from scratch! Find us on Saturdays from 8-2 at Blacksburg Farmers Market in VA. Follow us to see where our ice cream truck is & have us at your event. Ice creams really do come true!




Gardner's Frozen Treats

419 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg

Serving italian ice, Hershey hand-dipped ice cream, soft serve ice cream, banana splits, sundaes, milkshakes (80+ flavors), and Gelato Italian Ice Cream. Homemade Whipped Toppings are available. 

   

Lizard Licks Snowballs

51 1/2 Commerce Street, Pulaski 

Offering super fine shaved ice (snowballs) with a variety of flavor (approx. 70) including several sugar free options. Vanilla bean ice cream is an option to “stuff” any snowball. Marshmallow and vanilla cream drizzles are a couple of topping options.




Pycone Creamery

7195 Lee Highway, Fairlawn (Locations can vary)

Fresh, local homemade ice cream and old fashioned frozen lemonade. Flavors include but not limited to Elderberry, 50's Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Crushed Pineapple, and Sweet Vanilla. 




Scoops

610 Snidow Street, Pembroke

Hand scooped ice cream, milkshakes and floats. Play in the arcade room while you are there. Scoops will soon have a ice cream truck. 




Sugar Magnolia

102 North Main Street, Blacksburg

Sea-salt caramel, banana pudding, or lemon cheesecake bar ice cream. Numerous flavors/toppings. They also serve root bear floats and milkshakes.




The Soda Fountain
203 South Locust Street, Floyd

Hours: Tuesday & Wednesday 12 PM - 5 PM;  Thursday & Saturday 12 PM - 8 PM; Fridays 12 PM - 9:30 PM; and Sundays 12 - 6 PM

The Soda Fountain offers classic favorites such as specialty soda floats, milkshakes, malts, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches and even homemade waffles. Many of the toppings, waffle cones, and desserts are made in-house or locally.
