My family loves hanging out at the pool, especially in the summer. Macaroni KID NRV has put together a list of some pools, splash pads, & water parks locally and in Virginia. Don't forget the sunscreen and water bottles if you are going to be outside!
NEW RIVER VALLEY
Blacksburg
Blacksburg Aquatic Center is an indoor aquatic facility. The BAC offers six lap lanes in a 25 yard swimming pool with a splash pool and zero depth entry. It has a water slide and diving board into 12 foot depth water. The aquatic center also has a hot tub, men’s and women's saunas, locker rooms, family changing room, and a lobby area.
First & Main Splash Pad is located in the center of the First & Main Plaza. This is a small turf area with water sprinklers.
Piedmont Pool is an outdoor pool on the south side of Blacksburg near Nellie's Cave. This pool is membership only. It has a diving board and basketball goal for the pool.
Shawnee Swim Club this is an outdoor pool. This location is stock membership only. They have a wait list for membership. Facilities include a baby pool, sports pool, diving well, bathhouse, picnic shelter, and basketball courts.
Christiansburg
Christiansburg Aquatic Center is an indoor aquatic facility. The CAC offers a competitive pool with a wet classroom and lap lanes. A leisure pool has a water slide, zero entry water level and dump buckets. The Aquatic Center also has a heated therapy pool, cardio fitness rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a warming kitchen, locker rooms, family changing rooms, and a sun deck.
Frog Pond is an outdoor pool. The Frog Pond has a zero-depth entry for those wanting to take their time and ease into the water. It also has a maximum depth of eight feet for those who want to make a splash and jump right in. There is a baby pool equipped with a water-spouting whale and a bubbler inside of a fenced in area. There are four slides in the big pool. Three tube slides go into 8 ft water and a frog slide is in the shallow water. A concession stand is available daily.
Ridgewood Swim Club is a private, membership-based seasonal pool facility. It has two diving boards in a separated 12-foot deep dive well, a slide, and 5-lane 25 meter lap area ranging from 3 feet to 6 feet deep. A separate 1.5 foot baby pool is in a separately fenced area. The facility includes the Snack Shack, which offers cold drinks & snacks at affordable prices. Ridgewood Swim Club has men's and women's changing rooms and shower facilities.
Dublin
Dublin Swim Club is a private membership only pool. The Dublin Swim Club has a large pool with a slide and two diving board. They also have a baby/toddler pool fenced in separately. Floats are allowed at this pool. A snack shack is available under a covered pavilion.
Randolph Pool (Currently Closed due to Fire we will announce when they reopen.) Randolph has a 38 ft. long water slide, walk in access to water, shaded swimming and sitting areas and spray toys/water drops. They also have frog and boat slides for the younger tots. A baby/young child pool that is fenced in is available.
Narrows
Narrows Splash Pad is located on Park Drive. This is a great way to cool yourself and the children off on a hot summer day. Water bucket dumps, ring sprinklers and lots of other sprinklers inside a fenced in area.
Pearisburg
Pearisburg Town Pool is located on Wenonah Avenue & Gale Road. It has a baby pool and a diving board in the big pool. It is a heated pool.
Pembroke
Castle Rock (Currently Closed due to a leak, we will announce when they reopen.) Castle Rock is a junior Olympic size swimming pool located at the Castle Rock Golf Course in Pembroke, Virginia. They have 3 to 12 ft. water levels with a diving board. They also offer a baby/toddler pool that is fenced in. A snack bar is located in the office.
Radford
Pine Valley Recreation Club is a private membership only pool and recreation facility. This pool has a diving board.

Alexandria
Great Waves Water Park is an outdoor water park, located in Alexandria, VA. This water park has a lot to offer. They have five water slides and a giant wave pool. For younger kids their Kids Zone is a great place to cool off while having a great time, and don’t forget about the giant splash pad! Food and snacks are available for purchase. Cabana's are on site for rental. Approximately 4 hours one way.
Massanutten
Massanutten Indoor Water Park was voted the second best Water Park of America in 2018. This water park features a water fortress, inflatable adventures, body slides, pools, and lazy river floats and hot tubs. They also have several young child/baby areas. If you really want to be adventurous give the Surf Flo Rider Endless Wave a try! Many dining and snack options are available. This water park is about 2.5 hours from the NRV.
Massanutten Outdoor Water Park voted top 10 outdoor Water Parks of American in 2016. Offering numerous outdoor slides of varying sizes. A splash pool with a kiddie area. Our favorite is the wave pool with 3 ft. waves. Water basketball and an Outdoor Flo Ride is available as well. Don't forget to stop by the Hot Springs tub before you leave. Many dining and snack options are available. This water park is about 2.5 hours from the NRV.
Roanoke
Green Ridge Recreation Center is an indoor water park. They have a current river and water slides. A splash pad and zero depth entry is available for younger children. Green Ridge also has a hot tub and lap lanes.
Splash Valley is an outdoor water park. It has two 34 ft slides, one is tube and one is a bowl slide. Splash Valley also has a really great younger child play area with slides. My favorite is the current river with waterfalls. They also have a concession stand with food and drinks.
Williamsburg
Great Wolf Lodge an indoor water park that has day passes. This park has quite a few rides and attractions. The fastest ride is called the Howlin' Tornado which drops riders down a 6 story tube. There is four slides and Surf Flow Rider simulator. For the youngest children there is a 4 story water fort, water slides, and gentle pool activities. This water park is about 4 hours from the NRV.
Water Country USA is an outdoor water park at Bush Gardens. This is Virginia's largest water park and has something for everyone. Numerous slides are available, the epic drop slide of your life Vanish Point is our favorite. A cow themed play area is available for the younger kids. They also have food courts and lots of cabanas. Around 4 hours from the NRV.
Wytheville
Lake Ridge RV Resort is an outdoor pool on the property. This location allows day guests. The best time to go is Sunday-Thursday when camping is low. They have a large pool with a ropes course. A baby/toddler pool with two slides is available for younger children. Lake Ridge also offers two 400 ft water tube slides, one is enclosed and one is open. These are really fun for older kids and adults. Also, a putt-putt golf course, game room, restaurant, store, basketball court, fishing pond and lots more. It is about an hour from the NRV.

Ace Adventures
is a lake water park in West Virginia. They have 3 waterslides and a zipline. Around 50 huge inflatable toys: 25′ climbing mountain, giant spinning Saturn balls, seesaws, obstacle course and much more. A sandy beach is available for those who want to relax. They also have a restaurant on site. Volleyball, tetherball and a giant chessboard can be played on the beach. Located less than 2 hours from the NRV.
Carowinds Carolina Harbor is an outdoor water park, located in North Carolina. This massive waterpark features everything from giant water slides and wave pools to large play structures and a three-acre kids’ area. There is a wide variety of dining options at Carolina Harbor. They are located about 3 hours from the NRV.
Dollywood is a huge outdoor water park, located in Tennessee. This water park has numerous slides. Dollywood also has a lazy river and wave pool. Cabanas and retreats are available for rental first come first serve. For the younger kids, Little Creek Falls has a kids pool, little slides and an activity center. Food is available for purchase at Dollywood. Less than 4 hours one way.
Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park in North Carolina that offers day passes. They have a lot of water slides, a wave pool and a lot for the youngest children. During the summer their outdoor 3.6 ft. pool has fountains and poolside seating. Cabanas are available for rent and there is a lot of food options at the park. Less than 4 hours to Great Wolf Lodge, NC.
Wet & Wild Emerald Pointe is an outdoor water park in North Carolina. The most favorite water park in the Carolinas'. Over 38 rides and attractions. The young kids will enjoy Splash Island and Happy Harbor, the large children's areas. Visit the lazy river, or splash and relax in the Leisure Lagoon. Go see the Soak Zone before you leave, it is fun for the whole family. Cabanas and food are available in the park. It is about 2.5 hours from the NRV to Wet & Wild.
