Description

The YMCA at Virginia Tech sets kids up for a healthy start to the summer at Healthy Kids Day!

The YMCA at Virginia Tech is excited to invite families to join us in celebrating the 33rd annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day®! Healthy Kids Day® is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. For over 30 years, YMCAs and their communities have hosted free community events aimed at inspiring kids and families to keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer months and beyond. True to our mission of advocating youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the YMCA at Virginia Tech is committed to improving the health and well-being of families through active play and educational activities. The primary goal of Healthy Kids Day® is to develop a sense of health and well-being, especially among children, within the local community. This year’s event offers a wonderful opportunity for families to discover resources that can help create an engaging and active summer for their kids. As a child grows and fulfills their true potential, we believe they will make the world a better place for everyone. When a child is healthy, happy, motivated, and excited, something amazing is inevitably going to result. Along with Healthy Kids Day, we will be hosting a 1-mile Fun Run at 10:30 AM. Don’t forget to register for this exciting race on our website at https://vtymca.org/healthy-kids-day/.

Healthy Kids Day® is a free “super kick-off” event consisting of music, games, healthy snacks, crafts, and educational activities for families. Local organizations will also be promoting various summer programs and activities that are perfect for kids. This year, we will have additional fun activities for all ages, including a Fire Department Show, the VT Police Truck, a Sack Race, and plenty of other engaging activities for children. Don’t miss the YMCA Food Truck, offering delicious and healthy options for all guests. The event will be held on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, on the grass and field outside the YMCA Lancaster House on Washington St., Blacksburg. All parents must check in with our volunteers at the registration desk upon arrival. Free parking will be available on campus during the weekend. So, come on out to this free event where families of all kinds are welcome! We hope to see you there!
