This is a FREE Women’s Beginner Self Defense class at the Newport Community Center every Friday at 6 pm. We cover situational awareness, so you can avoid the problem entirely, or at least see it coming before it happens, how to de-escalate if possible, what to say/do and what not to say/do during a potential violent encounter, and what to do once the violence starts to help you get home safe to your loved ones. Taught by a retired Radford city detective and a trafficking/domestic violence/abduction survivor, you get the best of both worlds, both the legalistic side and the survivors side. We give a realistic view of what to expect during an encounter. We are NOT an exercise class. We use a mix of different combatives including Krav Maga. We teach no nonsense, straight to the point, self defense without the frills of the expensive classes which drag it out to make more money off of you. It’s always free to girls and women who want to learn how to protect themselves from the unknown. Come see us.
