Virginia Tech Recreational Sports offers youth, adult and private swim instruction all year that follow the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Classes are divided upon skill level, and the aquatics instructors guide participants to improve their swimming proficiency and water independence. American Red Cross lifeguards are always on duty throughout each class.
Private swim lessons (30 minutes of one-on-one instruction) and semi-private swim lessons (30 minutes of one-on-two instruction) are designed to provide instruction for swimmers of all skill levels. Private and semi-private swim lessons offer an excellent opportunity to explore your potential in swimming basics, stroke mechanics, and techniques.
Business Review
“I’ve been very impressed with the skills that my children have learned. In less than six months, my oldest daughter went from being afraid to put her face in the water to being able to swim Olympic length [laps].”
“I noticed that my [son] would sit on the side and watch while friends were jumping off diving boards and going down slides. I knew it was time to buckle down on swimming. After taking lessons at Level Three for four different sessions, he now has passed up to Level Four—but more than that, he is much more confident in the water and is having fun!”
“I have told others about the program. [My family] are super fans of the class. I fully trust Nigel [Aquatics Assistant Director] and the other instructors. They’re so patient—it’s been great to get involved.”
