The Entry System for the 2024 State 4-H Horse Show opened, July 1, 2024. The State 4-H Horse Show provides the opportunity for nearly 300 youth to attend and compete at a multi-day event featuring 6 different discipline divisions. This year the horse show will be held on September 5-8, 2024 at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA.
Not only do youth at the State 4-H Horse Show have the opportunity to compete and show their horses; but there are also opportunities to win college scholarships, compete in equine knowledge competitions (Horse Judging, Horse Bowl, Hippology) and participate in the Stall Decorating Contest. Youth spend 4 days exhibiting sportsmanship and making new friends.
The 2024 Entry System is located in Fair Entry at this link: 2024 Virginia 4-H State Horse Show. There are video tutorials available on the Virginia 4-H Horse Program website to help guide you through the entry process. Prior to entering Fair Entry, youth should plan to meet with their Club Leader, Trainer, or VCE Agent to review the entry paperwork and what classes they plan to enter. Prior to entry, youth should have completed all of the requirements to show at the State 4-H Horse Show. A detailed list of these requirements is available online, but include attending a district or outside qualifying show or clinic, completing Horsemanship Skills Levels 1 and 2, working to complete a 4-H Project Book, and declaring your horse in 4HOnline.
Once entered, make sure you take time to review the forms for other activities happening at the State 4-H Horse Show. These activities include the Art and Photography Contest, the Portfolio and Record Book Contest, the Connie Collier Scholarship, the Senior Stampede, and educational contests! Forms for these contests can be found in the 2024 State Horse Show Rulebook and/or on the Virginia 4-H Horse Program Website.
Entries are due July 31st, 2024. Get those entries submitted so you can join the fun in September!
Failure to provide any of the requested information will result in your entry being rejected and returned for completion.
