The Teen Connections program uses the evidence-based curriculum "Get Real" (for youth middle & high school age). The curriculum educates youth on anatomy, puberty, healthy relationships, consent, delaying sex, and protection methods (through Social & Emotional Skills building). Students graduate as Peer Health Educators after they participate in the one-week summer program, or multi-week virtual program in the spring. This program empowers youth to make positive choices, as well as recognizes parents/caring adults as primary sexuality educators, and supports them in this role through family activities. We also build students' leadership skills development through community engagement and future volunteering as peer educators through the Teen Connections Alumni program!
Through our partnership with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and another fully funded program year (YAY!!), we are able to offer every student upon completion of the program a modest $100 stipend in the form of a visa gift card and provide lunch/dinner to the students each day of the program. Attached you'll find our flyers (in Spanish & English)! This summer we will be offering our middle school program (open to all middle school students), high school program, and a next level middle school program (for any students who participated in the original middle school program previously). We are also planning a NEW program exclusively in Spanish for youth soon, so please share with any Spanish-speaking families in your circle!
All sign-up interest forms for our programs can be found HERE: https://linktr.ee/tcswva. Please contact Malinda Britt, (540) 315-2130 with any questions about the program!
