You never want to be a victim or plan for a violent crime to happen to you. The sad reality is more and more we need to be prepared and hope to never use our training. I remember hearing about my best friend having someone break into her home while she slept. She is a single mom and keeps a unloaded gun in her bedroom for safety. When I asked her what happened she cried and told me she froze. Thankfully, the suspect fled the scene, but it is not far from my mind what would have happened if he hadn't.
NRV Self-Defense was created to offer young ladies and women FREE self-defense classes for large/small groups, individuals, or church groups, and church security information, primarily in the New River Valley area of Virginia. Ladies under 18 requires a parent or guardian to stay for the duration of the class. Under 12 may require parental involvement in the class, depending on the individual child.
Classes are held at Newport Community Center, Radford Recreation and beginning in January, Pulaski Parks & Recreation.
Based on a survey by the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence, “81.3% of female rape/attempted rape victims and 70.8% of male rape/attempted rape victims had first incident occur before age 25.”

This club offers women a safe and realistic martial arts training environment that will support growth in confidence by developing skills, mental strength, and an unwavering spirit. Mr. David Trail and Ms. Megan McAllister both hold extensive training in Karate, Jujitsu, Krav Maga, and Tactical Defense Combatives. David is also a retired police detective with 30 years of defense techniques with women in our region. You can expect club sessions to be fun, interactive and a great way to meet other women in your community. Loose-fitting clothing and tennis shoes are recommended.
