December 14, 2023

The BHS Athletic Club (BAC) is a key funding source for Blacksburg High School’s athletic programs. Our members are directly responsible for the BHS Athletic Club and their mission; to support Blacksburg High and Middle School student athletes to ensure that our athletes have the resources to perform at the highest level both on and off the field. Our funds are raised through many actions from volunteer BHS Athletic Club Board Members, Committee Chairs and Team Ambassadors. We raise monies through membership dues, concessions, raffles and fundraising events throughout the year. This allows us to start off the school year with a generous gift of start-up funds to the High School of $10,000.00-$20,000.00 each August. In addition to the start-up funding, we also support BHS through direct communications with the AD’s of the High School and the Middle School, as well as their principals.

I know many have asked “where does the money go?” Our funds are used broadly across all sports programs to meet any planned and immediate sporting needs. In past years, some of these needs that we supported were hotel accommodations for our state runs. We also covered the shared costs of MCPS transportation needed for region and state games for all of our athletes. In past years, we provided multiple teams with new uniforms, helmets, warm ups, balls, nets, and cheer gear to name a few. The BAC directly covers the costs of field maintenance for soccer, baseball, and football. We are instrumental in replenishing our Athletic Trainor’s field and courtside medical equipment bags. All sporting event officials are paid for by the BAC. We provided two timing and equipment sheds for track and cross country. The costs of your student’s sports letters and multi-year letter pins are shared with us. We also pay for students VHSL membership dues to be able to participate in high school sports. These are just a few of the expenses that are incurred with high school sports that Blacksburg Athletic Club assists with.

There is so much to be proud of at BHS & BMS, we hope you will share that pride by helping us to honor the past, present and future shining stars of our community. Please consider joining our Athletic Club. There are several different options to choose from.

Membership Rates:

"All-Season" members who join can enjoy any home games (play-offs not included) for all sporting events in fall, winter and spring for $300. Your membership includes yourself and all family members in your household to BHS & BMS home games.

"Single-Season" members who join can enjoy any home games in a single-season (your choice of fall, winter or spring) for $150. Your membership includes yourself and all family members in your household to BHS & BMS home games.

You can pay via check or use the BAC Venmo below. Your names will be at the gate on a print-out so no need to keep up with a physical pass!

If you own a business and would like to be a corporate sponsor with the Blacksburg Athletic Club, there are two levels available.

Corporate Sponsorships:

  • $1,000.00 corporate sponsorship gets you 5 All Sports Season passes
  • $2,000.00 corporate sponsorship gets you 10 All Season Sports passes as well as recognition as the game sponsor for any one of our home football games.

Additionally, both levels of sponsorship will allow for you to set up an informational booth outside our highly trafficked concessions area to promote your business during a football game of your choice.

Since Covid we are working on rebuilding our BAC community. As of right now it consists of the four board members and a couple past board members. We are looking for parent and community involvement. We would love to see people coming to our monthly meetings and have people help serve our Blacksburg strand schools by joining a committee and helping out that way.
