Hear about 18th-century holiday traditions and learn how a young Colonel Washington and his family celebrated Christmas 250 years ago in 1772, a time of growing tensions and uncertainty on a guided candlelight tour at Mount Vernon by Candlelight, offered on select evenings, Nov. 25 - Dec. 18.
On December 16 and 17, watch fireworks soar over the Potomac River at Christmas Illuminations. See the historic area illuminated with wintry light patterns and greet Mount Vernon’s annual guest, Aladdin the camel.
You can also shop a winter market featuring goods made by colonial artisans and chat with the soldiers in the winter encampment.
