Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. announced it is excited to resume the annual Small Business Saturday on November 27th to support independent businesses in Downtown Blacksburg. Founded by in American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday® is a day to celebrate the small businesses that help support your neighborhood and is held every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Small Business Saturday has been embraced as part of the holiday shopping tradition as each year shoppers, businesses and public officials come together to Shop Small® and show their neighborhood pride.
Understanding the important contributions small businesses make to their communities, Downtown Blacksburg, Inc encourages the greater Blacksburg area to come downtown to support our small local businesses during this fun-filled, family-friendly special daylong event. The event will feature shopping and dining discounts, with performances by The Wilderness Chorus. Blacksburg Books will have a special Grinchy children's storytime at 10:30 AM and storytime with Joelle at 3 PM. We will be selling Downtown Gift Certificates direct if you want to pick up yours, 11 AM - 3 PM near the post office.
YMCA has partnered with Nest Realty & Kent Jewelers to bring the Gingerbread House Contest to Kent Square. Voting begins on December 3rd, votes must be cast inside Kent Jewelers all proceeds go to YMCA at Virginia Tech. The Holiday Trees will also be on display and you can vote at Kent Jewelers.
Voting for Gingerbread Houses ends on Dec 17th, winners will be announced on December 18th at 10 AM at the Lyric Theatre before the Free Family Film Fest.

Then turn in your fully-stamped card at any participating shop by December 22nd for entry into a grand prize drawing that will be held on December 23rd.
