By Shannon O'Donnell January 14, 2021

This winter is an ideal time to visit Winterplace!

Keeping active during the winter months can be difficult, even in a normal year.  This year you're probably finding yourselves inside more than usual and in many cases, winter sports teams have been canceled. If you've been searching for a safe family activity, look to Winterplace Ski Resort in nearby Ghent, West Virginia.  You'll find over 90 acres of downhill skiing and snowboarding, plus West Virginia's largest snow tubing park.  The outdoor nature of Winterplace allows for physical distancing and their runs have 100% snowmaking, so even if mother nature can't get it to snow, they can!

Winterplace is all about active family fun for all ages and there is no better place to learn to ski or snowboard.  Winterplace Ski and Snowboard School provides a fun and educational experience in a safe, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. They promise you will learn how to ski or snowboard or you can take the class again at no cost! Skiers and boarders learn the basics on their specially designed Terrain Based Teaching area that includes 2 Super Carpet Lifts.  Once they've mastered this, beginner skiers and boarders move on to chairlifts which open up a variety of beginner slopes. Advanced skiers can choose from 27 trails with the longest run at 1  1/4 mile!

Do you have children who want to learn to ski/snowboard? At Winterplace they teach children with a specialized instructional program that provides the best environment for ages 4-12. The SkiWee & Snow Explorers program uses a group format to divide the children by age and ability, along with the widely recognized game-changing Terrain Based Learning methodology.  The rental shop can provide all the equipment needed, including skis, boots and helmets.  Reservations are recommended due to limited space, and to learn more, visit HERE

For the wee ones, Frostie's Kinder Care is available for children ages 6 months to 4 years ( 24-hour advance reservation for Frostie's Kinder Care is required).

What better time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and learn a new sport or enjoy a lifelong passion? Winterplace Ski Resort offers  Learn-to-Ski/Snowboard packages for everyone in the family!
