Visiting the farm’s picture-perfect, rolling fields is an annual family tradition for many Southwest Virginia families. Face-painting, awe-inspiring farm animals, appearances by a live scarecrow and the 12-foot-tall HOKIEtron are among Sinkland Farms’ offerings which are popular with children — or they are, at least, for young’ ins who can be dragged away from the Kidz Zone which has many new features this year. The favorite, of course, is taking the wagon ride to the patch to pick your GREAT pumpkin. Other features include a 5-acre corn maze, large farm animal viewing barn, pony rides, horseback trail rides, and our Giant Slide are enticing to all ages. NEW THIS YEAR is a zip line for kids, the Bad Axe throwing station, and pig races for all to enjoy every Saturday and Sunday.
Setting itself apart from other pumpkin patches, Sinkland Farms makes sure to gear farm fun to adults of all ages. Tastings of Virginia wines and craft beer from the farm are available each day, along with a packed schedule of live music. We boast two stages for twelve days featuring twenty-four live music shows, all included with admission to the festival. Chainsaw carving, corn shelling, blacksmith and lasso exhibitions draw big crowds. Visitors can also enjoy the multitude of arts and crafts vendors. Featured local artists visit every weekend to display and demonstrate their craft. The Cottage Shoppe showcases many fall items for purchase. All this along with so many opportunities for family photographs on the picturesque farm.

As for fall decorations, you will see many magazine-style ideas displayed on the farm and on the grounds. All sizes, shapes, and colors of pumpkins, gourds, and squash in many varieties are available for purchase. You’ll also find hay bales, corn shocks and colorful mums. Food for sale includes homemade selections from Lisa’s Kitchen, Kettle Korn, a coffee bar and hand-dipped ice cream. So you better come hungry!
Today, a mainstay of the area, Sinkland Farms’ Pumpkin Festival has been voted a “Best Fall Festival” and ranked the “Best Pumpkin Patch” in Virginia. Other accolades include “Top 10 EPIC wedding venue” in the Commonwealth. In addition, Brian Robinson exclaims “I have attended many fall festivals and Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival is the granddaddy of them all. My family never misses it!”
Every Friday starting on September 27 through November 1, Sinkland Farms will be open from 4 pm to 8 pm with limited attractions. The Pumpkin Festival runs from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and from noon to 5 pm on Sundays through the first weekend in November. Admission is $10 per person. Seniors and members of the U.S. Armed Forces receive a discount and children under the age of two are free. Admission includes the hayride, corn maze, pig races, Kidz Zone, animal barn, all music and entertainment performances and parking.
