After over 9 successful years of providing a fine dining location in the heart of historic downtown Pearisburg, The Bank Food and Drink, will close after dinner service on Saturday, September 20th, 2014.
Chef Michael Behmoiras has accepted a tremendous opportunity to return to Atlanta as the Sous Chef for a new restaurant, The Southern Gentlemen, a Southern-inspired gastropub with rustic, farm-to-table fare, Southern fusion influences and a focus on shared plates. The restaurant will be located in the new Buckhead Atlanta development and shares a kitchen withanother new restaurant, Gipsy Kitchen, also owned by Southern Proper Hospitality. “I’m very appreciative of all of the local residents and visitors who have enjoyed dining at The Bank,” states Chef Michael. “The past three years have been a great experience to create new menus, cocktails and dining experiences for the area.”
Chef Michael’s accomplishments over the past few years including leading a team twice to win the People’s Choice Award at The Cast Iron Cook-off at The Greenbrier, being named to Best Chefs America in 2013, being a guest chef at both the 2013 Greenwich Wine and Food Festival and the 2014 Charleston Wine and Food Festival have brought great attention to his skills and the restaurant.
The Bank was recently recognized in six categories for the second year in a row as one of the top three restaurants in the New River Valley in Virginia Living Magazine’s “Best of Virginia” polling.
Building owners, Linda and Lynn Hayes, are in negotiations with two different parties, both interested in keeping a restaurant in historic downtown Pearisburg. Since moving here in 2003 from Miami, the Hayeses have focused on creating hospitality experiences in the New River Valley, first creating Inn at Riverbend, an award winning lodging property now in it’s 12th year and then The Bank Food and Drink.
