Reading Hour: Volunteers Needed to work 1:1 with local children

October 30, 2014
Smart Beginnings’ Reading Hour is a reading mentor program in which preschool children are paired, one-to-one, with an adult volunteer. Once a week, reading partners enjoy conversation together, and the adult reads a book aloud in hopes to stimulate the child’s interest in reading and learning. This also encourages them to believe that they can be successful in all aspects of life.

Why should you be involved with Reading Hour?
You have the opportunity to make a difference while being supported by Smart Beginnings and develop meaningful and rewarding relationships. As a volunteer with Reading Hour, you can help children develop better listening and vocabulary skills which can boost their self-confidence. All you need is a passion for investing in children and commitment to the weekly program.
