NRV MACARONI KID IS DOING SOMETHING GREAT

Food and volunteer drive to support Micahโ€™s Backpack on September 20

September 11, 2014
On Saturday, September 20, 2014, more than fifty Macaroni Kid Publishers are coming together to make a difference in their communities and included will be a food and volunteer drive to benefit Micah’s Backpack hosted by NRV Macaroni Kid.

On September 20, NRV Macaroni Kid will be collecting food and cash donations and recruiting volunteers to benefit Micah’s Backpack. The community is encouraged to stop by the Macaroni Kid booth at the Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival with their donation and to learn more about this local feeding program that benefits children and senior citizens.

"We are delighted to be doing something to make a difference in the New River Valley while still being part of the larger national movement," says Jennifer Chasse, Macaroni Kid Publisher for the New River Valley. Families who cannot attend the event are encouraged to  learn more about Micah's and donate online.

"For years, we've sought to harness the power of Macaroni Kid for the perfect national not-for-profit. This May, I realized that we were going about it all wrong ... Macaroni Kid is about empowering local communities. So we put the call out and invited our local Macaroni Kid Publishers to Make a Difference in their unique way in their unique communities. And more than fifty answered" explains Chief Macaroni Mom Joyce Shulman.
