Now celebrating its 18th year of dance excellence, Dance.tech Performing Arts Studio kicks off the 2016-2017 season! The instructors use dance as a tool to help develop many of the attributes of a growing child, including maturing physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Physical development occurs because dance involves a greater range of motion, coordination, strength and endurance than most other physical activities. Following guidelines set by the National Dance Education Organization (NDEA) this is accomplished through movement patterns that teach coordination and kinesthetic memory. Movement provides a cognitive connection between an idea, problem, or intent and an outcome or solution. This relationship between movement and intellectual development and education is an emergent field of study that has only recently begun to be explored.
The NDEA also supports the educational philosophy that dance helps children to develop literacy. The road to literacy involves the translation of movement expression and communication into words, much like the growing practice of teaching infants sign language before they are able to speak in sentences. Through dance, children develop enhanced sensory awareness, cognition, and consciousness. It is this heightened state that creates the magic of movement that is dance!
We extend this invitation to join our studio family and prosper through dance performance training.
Open Houses for new students will be held from 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, August 27th and Saturday, September 10th. All new dancers are invited to try a free week of classes, selecting personal favorites from over 70 classes offered weekly in pre-school, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and gymnastics.
