Family Campout at Chantilly Farm July 23-24

July 21, 2016
A family-friendly, interactive campout is planned for July 23-24 at Chantilly Farm in Floyd.
The Floyd Family Campout is an opportunity for local families to come and experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the height of the summer season. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and share outdoor skills such as campfire building, mushroom collecting and bird identification.
Field games are being planned along with guided trail hikes and a Saturday evening shared campfire meal. A mushroom walk, led by expert foragers from Gnomestead Hollow Farm, will take place on Sunday.
"Small scale camping events like this have been successful in other areas as a tool for building community and we're excited to make an effort to do that here in Floyd," said Chantilly Farm's Dee Wallace.
Storytelling and sharing of music will take place around a bonfire on Saturday evening. In addition to bringing your tallest tales, participants are encouraged to bring their favorite acoustic instruments to jam throughout the weekend.
The cost to participate in the weekend event is $70 per family of 4 (+$5 for each additional person) which includes all Saturday and Sunday activities. Participants may also reserve a full-service RV spot in the Chantilly Farm campground for an additional $30. Friday evening can be added for $15 per tent site.
