United Way Stuff the Bus Campaign

July 2, 2015
NEW RIVER VALLEY – United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd is kicking off its sixth‐annual Stuff the Bus campaign on July 1st. Stuff the Bus is a school supply drive for children in need in the New River Valley. Ten locations throughout the community will have drop bins available for donations July 1st through July 31st.
Montgomery:  Walmart, Big Lots, and Kroger on South Main St. in Blacksburg.
Radford:  Radford Public Library, Wade’s Supermarket, and Dollar General.
Floyd: Floyd Pharmacy, Dollar General, Slaughter’s Supermarket, and Family Dollar.

In addition to the month‐long collection, a Stuff the Bus Event will take place Saturday, July 18th. Three school buses from Montgomery County, Radford City, and Floyd County will be parked at the Christiansburg Walmart from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On this day, the community is urged to “stuff the bus” to send local children back to school prepared to learn.  All items received in a specific community will be distributed to children in need in that community. All donations stay local to serve the needs of local children.  In 2014, residents across the New River Valley donated over 7,400 items and served 427 children. Although last year’s Stuff the Bus campaign was a huge success, more children need our help. Please join us in our efforts to provide school supplies for children in our community, in hopes we will reach more children and help more families this year.
